The aviation division of Southern Energy Company (Pty) Ltd, (SEC Aviation), secured the rights to supply Shell aviation products to parts of the Southern African market in 2008 when Shell decided to rationalize its downstream aviation business. SEC has since also bought the total aviation fuel interests of Shell Namibia. SEC is an accredited reseller of aviation fuel, both Avgas 100LL and Jet A1, supplying fuel either in bulk or a minimum order of 100 drums through its operations in South Africa as well as Namibia. SEC, which also has export rights, has successfully exported both JetA1 and Avgas to a number of African as well as Malaysian countries.
South Africa
SEC Aviation has a supply agreement for aviation fuel with Shell Marketing SA. Bulk product is supplied from both Durban (Avgas and Jet A1) and Cape Town (Jet A1 only). It makes use of only reputable bulk fuel transporters for the delivery of its product to ensure proper quality and safety standards are adhered to. All drummed product is only supplied in new sealed 200 litre drums.
Namibia
SEC Aviation has secured distribution rights for the supply of Jet A1 in Namibia via an agreement with Engen Namibia and owns the distribution assets for into plane supply at Walvis Bay, Oranjemund, Swakopmund, Tsumeb, Luderitz, Arandis and Katima Mulilo airfields. Avgas is also supplied at all these airfields except Oranjemund. Drummed product is available in 200 litre sealed drums.
